White kitchens are a safe bet: they are timeless, fit in with any decorative style (modern, classic, rustic…), are bright and convey a sense of order and cleanliness, but, unless you are a fan of “total white”, they run the risk of being cold or monotonous.
To avoid this, there are many formulas or resources: from adding color through the countertop or coverings, to reserving these brushstrokes for auxiliary furniture or accessories.

EN EL FRENTE DE COCCIÓN
Painting tiles is another way to add touches of color to the kitchen without a renovation. There are specific paints for this type of surfaces, which adhere to the tiles and which can be applied to the tiles.
They can perfectly withstand humid conditions. But which color to choose? The palette is as wide as your taste: black or dark gray for modern kitchens; pastel shades for vintage or retro style lovers; natural tones if you don’t want to risk too much; blues or greens for traditional kitchens…
ON THE WALL
When white is present, not only in furniture and countertop, but also in the work fronts, a good idea to break the monotony is to decorate the walls of the kitchen in a different color. Ideally, it should be a single wall away from the fire area (that or paint with plastic paint or water-based enamel, easy to clean with a damp cloth). This idea is perfect for creating a kitchen with personality and also for delimiting different areas within the kitchen, such as the dining area from the kitchen proper.
ALTERNATING FURNITURE IN TWO DIFFERENT COLORS
An increasingly common trend is to choose upper and lower cabinets in different colors or finishes. With this decorative proposal, lively and dynamic decorations are achieved. It is not necessary to renovate the kitchen: just change the doors of the upper or lower cabinets or, if you are good at do-it-yourself work, paint them. To do this, it will be necessary to first sand the surface to open the pore and improve the adherence of the primer; then, apply a coat of solvent-based primer and finally, apply two coats of water-based enamel in the desired color, waiting for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.
A VINYL FLOOR
Vinyl materials, besides being resistant, are very practical and hygienic, since they can be cleaned with water and neutral soap. They are available in a wide variety of designs and plain or patterned colors, and are easily installed without the need to remove the previous flooring, as long as it is level. Designs that imitate hydraulic mosaics are very fashionable.
AUXILIARY FURNITURE
Dining room chairs, lamps, small appliances, kitchenware, exposed crockery… Adding touches of color through auxiliary furniture and small accessories is not only the simplest formula, but it will also allow you to renew the look of your kitchen whenever you want, easily and economically.
Take advantage of the fact that white is the easiest color to combine, since any color goes well with it, to make your kitchen a modern and fun room. Remember that you don’t have to limit yourself to contrasting white with a single color; you can always play with three or four different shades to achieve a fresh and dynamic ambiance. But don’t overdo it and, if you do, make sure that the elements have something in common. Take a look at this kitchen: the island was paired with four identical stools, but in four different colors.
